Motorists on Highway 246 (Division Street South) in Northfield will encounter a detour July 8-9 for pavement repairs, according to a statement from the Minnesota Department of Transportation. The repairs will be conducted on Division Street south of Woodley Street.

Northbound Highway 246 motorists will be detoured around the work zone by traveling west on Jefferson Parkway to Highway 3 north and then east on Highway 246 (Woodley Street). Southbound motorists on Highway 246/Division Street South will use the route in reverse.
Residents near the work zone between Fremont and Woodley streets will be able to reach their homes.
Work is scheduled to repair damaged pavement, which requires closure of the road for two days. If work is completed earlier, the road will open sooner, weather permitting.
MnDOT’s J.P. Gillach (GIL’-latch), stated that the department’s number one priority is safety:
“The biggest issue we continue to see with work zones is speed and people speeding. It’s the number one complaint we hear from everybody in the field. It almost doesn’t matter who you speak to. So if there’s, you know, one big tip to give, keep everybody safe. Just slow down.” – J.P. Gillach, MNDOT Spokesperson (Audio courtesy of the Minnesota News Network)
MNDOT reminds everyone while driving to follow all safety rules, including obeying posted speed limits, avoiding using cell phones, giving workers room to work, and being patient in work zones.
