Northfield’s Second Annual Jazz Festival gets underway tomorrow night. This free event includes nine performances across several venues in the city. Last year for the inaugural festival, it was held only at Way Park and Festival Director JC Sanford says that their first year was quite successful:
“You know, people were really, really enthusiastic about it, you know, even though it was 95° and humid that day that it happened, we still had, you know, you know, a bunch of people came and they’re like, we want it back.” – JC Sanford, Director of the Northfield Jazz Festival, on KYMN In The Morning
Starting Friday night will be the Opening Night Jazz Party and Swing Dance with the Strawberry Collective at the Grand Events Center. This takes place from 6pm to 9pm.
On Saturday, there will be several performances:
- 12pm – Dave Hagedorn Percussion Workshop at Hot Spot Music (register here)
- 2pm – Mary Louise Knutson at the Northfield Public Library
- 4pm – Lucia Newell & Jaon Griffin at the Arts Guild Theater (reserve a spot here)
- 7:30pm – El Arte Del Bolero: Miguel Zenon & Luis Perdomo at the United Church of Christ
And on Sunday, there will be several performances at Way Park:
- 1pm – Sophia Kickhofel Trio
- 2:30pm Abinnet Berhanu’s Abnadent
- 4pm Lila Ammons
Ending the weekend with a Jam Session with the Blue ox trio at the Imminent Brewing.
