The Northfield Public Library announced at the start of this month that it will offer a new service to patrons: the ability to check out a state park pass. Library Director Natalie Draper says that they have heard a lot of interest in the community for this program, and this year, she said Northfield was finally able to join the program:

“The program has been around for quite a while and we haven’t qualified in the past, so every year I check in on this and this year they opened it up to more libraries to be able to get in. So we managed to get in.” – Natalie Draper, Northfield’s Library Director on KYMN In The Morning

After checking out the pass, Library Patrons received a placard that goes on their car’s dashboard that lasts for up to 7 days. When the time is up, simply recycle the card; no need to return it to the library. The pass offers free access to all of Minnesota’s State Parks.
4 passes are available at any time at the circulation Desk in the library, and an additional pass is available in the library’s bookmobile.
And a reminder: tonight is also the library’s summer concert this week with Val Son, a psych-rock band from Minneapolis. Their songs are also influenced by outlaw country, acid rock, grunge, and post-punk music. Story time takes place at 5:30pm, the concert begins at 6pm in Way Park. The event is free for all to attend.
