With the Riverwalk Market Fair returning tomorrow, we are once again sharing one of the exciting programs they have planned each week. One of the most exciting events for kids is the hunt for the radish. Riverwalk Market Board member Betsey Wentz explains:
“We picked a radish because last year’s poster, featured a painting of radishes, and a youth vendor actually crocheted the radish for us. We tuck it into a different booth space each week. A vendor hides it for us in their booth.” – Betsy Wentz, Riverwalk Market Fair Board Member, on KYMN’s Something I Have Always Wondered About

When a kid finds the radish and turns it in they receive a $10 gift card to spend at any booth at the Riverwalk fair. Wentz said that it allows people to visit and connect with more vendors:
“And really, we were just thinking it was a way for people to walk around and connect with vendors and really look and booths they maybe wouldn’t have looked in before and that’s working great.” – Betsy Wentz, Riverwalk Market Fair Board Member, on KYMN’s Something I Have Always Wondered About
However, Wentz said that the event has grown to something bigger than they ever imagined, drawing new people into the fair, and market manager Derek Meyers said it’s one of his favorite parts of the event:
“Yeah, kids absolutely love it. So fun to watch them just running around. They’ll come hound you for clues and things and like, oh, you gotta find it on your own. So that’s that’s pretty great.”– Derek Meyers, Riverwalk Market Fair Manager, on KYMN’s Something I Have Always Wondered About

Riverwalk Market Fair takes place every Saturday on Bridge Square from 9am to 1pm.
