The Vintage Band Festival takes place on Saturday. In its 19th year, the festival this year includes 11 performances with a new group performing nearly every hour. Here’s one of the event organizers, Randy Ferguson on KYMN’s ArtZany:
“This shines with variety. From New Orleans to British tradition, brass band to American big band, 1940s 1930s, 40s dance bands, everything in between and a lot of them were there actually. You can’t even classify. They might be called a New Orleans man, but they’re something else.” – Randy Ferguson of the Vintage Band Festival on KYMN’s ArtZany
Among the groups performing are the New Prague Area Community Band, the Sheldon Theater Brass Band, the Bavarian Musikmeisters, the Lake Wobegon Brass Band, and the La Clave Orchestra, among many more groups.
With next year their 20th anniversary, the group said they are preparing for an even bigger event running from July 30th to August 2nd, 2026. The group’s also set to host Tuba Christmas on December 6th this year.
The Vintage Band Festival gets underway Saturday at 9am at Bridge Square. The event is free for all to attend.
