Two Northfield athletes are set to compete in the World Games taking place this week in China. Allie Lyman and Katelyn Sticha, both of whom live in Northfield, will compete on the USA Tug of War women’s team, in the first time in over 20 years that the USA team has qualified.
The World Games are a set of games held every year, governed by the International Olympic Committee, and consist of games that are not part of the Olympic Games. Nearly 3,500 athletes from 100 different nations compete in 30 different sports.
Not only are two of the team’s members from Northfield, but also the team’s American flag, which was presented to the team shortly before they departed by members from the Northfield Veterans of Foreign Wars. The flag will fly outside the team’s tent and the competition area.
