The Northfield School Board is meeting tonight. With August and the approach of the beginning of the school year, the board is transitioning from its summer schedule to its regular schedule, which will meet twice a month on the second and fourth Mondays at 6pm.
The main discussion time is reserved for a summary report of the superintendent’s annual performance review. According to a memo prepared by Board Chair Clauida Gonzalez-George, Superintendent Hillmann is reviewed across eight major topics and six focus areas, receiving a 1 to 5 rating for each one by each board member. According to the report, Hillmann received a 4.9 out of 5.0 rating overall. The report in particular highlights his role in leading the district through the High School referendum last summer and fall, and then the budget reductions process this past spring.
The main item the board will take action on is approving the purchase of a new digital video scoreboard for Memorial Field. The scoreboard is part of a larger program of selling advertisements at the school’s different athletic facilities. The scoreboard is set to cost approximately $400,000 and will be paid for via the revenue generated from ads and sponsorships.
The meeting will end with items for information, which include a construction update on the High School and a review of this school year’s e-Learning Day plan.
If you are interested in attending the school board meeting, it is held in the District Office Board Room; use Door #2 located on the north side of the District Office on 2nd Street West. The meetings are also streamed live on Zoom; you can find the link to the video in the agenda at Northfieldschools.org. Recordings of the meetings are also posted on the district’s YouTube page.
Tonight’s meeting starts at 6pm.
