Rice County First Responders are set to gather this week for their annual fundraiser for the HOPE Center. The Charity Softball tournament takes place starting at 5:30pm at North Alexander Park in Faribault. Rice County Sheriff Jesse Thomas noted that there will be several activities beyond just the softball tournament to help raise funds, including:
“We are also selling tickets for kids to ride in the BearCat to get a ride to school this fall. So if you have a student who would like to get a ride to school in an armored vehicle.” – Jesse Thomas, Rice County Sheriff on KYMN In The Morning
The HOPE Center provides help for survivors and victims of Sexual and Domestic Violence and Stalking. Among the work they do is offer legal advocacy, community and professional education, and coordinate the action response team. Thomas noted that this year, in particular, the fundraiser was important:

Four teams will compete in the tournament: Faribault Police & Fire, Rice County Sheriff’s Office, Department of Corrections, and Northfield Police & Fire. The first game takes place at 5:30pm and the championship game at 7:30pm. Last year, the sheriff’s office won the tournament.
Flags will be posted by the American Legion Post 43. Corn dogs, cheese curds, bottled water, and soda will be for sale.
