The annual Defeat of Jesse James Days Horseshoe Hunt gets underway today. Those who registered buttons will receive the full prize of $2,000, but anyone participating can still receive a prize of $1,000. A reminder on the rules: the horseshoe is hidden on public property, never buried, and the schools, colleges, and private property are off-limits for the hunt.
Horseshoe hunt organizer Tim Freeland says it’s a fun opportunity for the family to get together and learn about the history of Northfield:
“I always say for those families out there with a kid, is there anything more magical as a kid than the opportunity to potentially turn over, move a bunch of leaves and there’s a horseshoe and you just found 2 grand.” – Tim Freeland, Co-Chair of the DJJD Horseshoe Hunt, on KYMN In The Morning
Listen to the News:

One major change to the Hunt this year is that it is one day shorter, ending Sunday at midnight. Freeland says this means that each clue will be filled with extra information and hints to the location of the horseshow:
“And a lot of people will kind of consider the first, I mean, when there’s six clues, the first couple to be awash, and just setting up the story, which it is. However, there are significant references even in clue one.” – Tim Freeland, Co-Chair of the DJJD Horseshoe Hunt, on KYMN In The Morning
Clues are posted daily on our website and Facebook page, you can also hear them live on-air at 7am as well. If you find the horseshoe, contact Tim Freeland or Ali Feldman immediately. If the horseshoe is found will have a news update about it and share the explanation behind the clues.
