Welcome, folks, to the first edition of the Raider Sports Highlights. With the start of the High School Sports season, KYMN has begun covering our local team as well. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, hear the Raider Sports update, a two-minute recap of the latest games, and then the schedule for the next few days.  Meanwhile, each Wednesday, we will focus on one team, player, or moment.

Today, we are focusing on the Football team, which started its season last Thursday, at home against the Waconia Wildcats. It was a difficult start to the season with the team losing 21 to 9. Raiders Assistant Coach Eric Carter said the team was back together on Friday, working together for the next game, here he is on KYMN’s Raider Wrap

“Watch film for about an hour an one joint meeting so probably utilize the film to watch defense for the first 20-30 minutes and then we use the last 20 to 30 minutes to work on the offensive stuff.” – Eric Carter, Assistant Coach of the Raider Football Team on KYMN’s Raider Wrap

However, Carter said he and the rest of the coaches were optimistic about the team going into the next game.

“Yeah I mean I feel like it’s always an opportunity to grow right that’s the game of football I know we kind of talked about it as well week one the week two is usually when you see like one of your biggest jumps during the season just from that first game kind of getting out some of those Jitters I think as a consensus I think we’re actually like I mean as you can see we move the ball pretty well. “ – Eric Carter, Assistant Coach of the Raider Football Team on KYMN’s Raider Wrap

In particular, he noted that they feel good about the next game:

“With what we can do we know we can move the ball and we also said you know we want to make it an emphasis to you know get the ball to our playmakers a bit more so we’ll be able to kind of game plan and plan some things now as well knowing you know what injuries we have.”  – Eric Carter, Assistant Coach of the Raider Football Team on KYMN’s Raider Wrap

The Raiders are on the road Friday evening to Faribault. That game gets underway at 7 pm, here it is live hear on KYMN, with our pregame coverage beginning at 6:45 pm.
