Tomorrow evening, a Twin Cities-based opera company led by a 2011 Northfield High School graduate is set to perform the opera The Miller’s Daughter at St. Olaf College. The company is being led and organized by Victoria Erickson, who said about the performance.
“I grew up in Northfield, so bringing this project here is deeply personal,” says Erickson. “The community, including St. Olaf faculty members, that shaped my love of music will now be part of a story I helped create– one that honors tradition but also challenges whose voices are heard. I thought The Daughter deserved to be heard.”
A soprano, Erickson returns home to star as the title character in The Miller’s Daughter. A champion of new works and Artistic Director of Opera Athena, Erickson brings international experience and a deeply personal connection to this Minnesota premiere. Joining her in the performance are several award-winning performers.
