Design renderings of the Reimagine Northfield High School project.
The Northfield School Board meets tonight for a regular meeting with several items on the agenda. An exciting item is a report from Sal Bagley of Wold Architects on the High School Reimagine project. The report will include design renderings. In May, in her first update to the Board, Bagley said what the major theme of the new design was:
“The overarching guiding concept that seemed to really resonate with the core planning group was wanting to have this unifying Commons experience …. And sometimes we joke with the core planning group that we’re really trying to create lakefront property, right? Everybody wanted to feel connected to each other, and what you have right now is a very hallway-based building, right where you’re discrete elements are connected. The links and hallways, and this kind of takes that and turns it on its head, that we’re very not hallway-based and we have kind of a central organizing commons.” – Sal Bagley, Principal Architect on the Reimage Northfield High School Project at the 5/12/2025 School Board Meeting
Also on the agenda will be reports from the District Youth Council on their activities this year and from the High School Principal, Chris Dibble, on the successes of last year and focus areas for next year. The report is part of a series of reports with all of the different administrators of each school building.
The main item the School Board will take action on is approval of the Preliminary Tax Levy for the School District. Unlike Cities or Counties, approval of School district tax Levies is more structured since it is either approved by referendums or the state. Local property taxes make up 26% of funding this year in Northfield. For the school district, taxes are set to decrease by 0.98% this year, resulting in a savings of $109 for a home valued at $350,000.

Tonight’s meeting starts at 6pm.
