Motorists can expect temporary lane closures along Highway 3 between St. Olaf Avenue and Fremouw Avenue starting on tomorrow (September 23th) through next Tuesday (September 30th) to replace approximately 29 streetlights.
According to a statement from the City of Northfield, the streetlights in the area were installed in 1998 and have reached the end of their life. The bases of the light poles are beginning to rust, and the luminaires are outdated and inefficient. The new poles will be aluminum, which will hold up better against salt, and the luminaires will be energy-efficient LEDs.
The city requests that all motorists always drive with caution, slow down in work zones, and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
