An annual local Scandinavian tradition takes place this Saturday: The Annual Lutefisk and Norwegian Meatball Supper at Vang Lutheran Church. Vang is part of a series of Scandinavian churches that host lutfisk suppers through the fall and holiday season and is one of the closer options for Northfielders.
Made from dried whitefish, usually cod, Lutefisk is quite a polarizing dish, with some loving it and others not so much, in part because of its unique preparation and texture. Served with melted butter, Lutefisk is often eaten around Christmas.
Other items on the menu at Vang’s supper include: Norwegian Meatballs with Gravy, Mashed Potatoes, Corn, Cole Slaw, Fruit Soup, Lefse, and Norwegian Baking’s and desserts.
