Welcome back to this week’s edition of the Raider Sports Highlight, where we take a look at one of the teams or players and what they are up to this season.
It’s homecoming week in Northfield, and the Raider Football team is coming in with momentum from last week, where they were on the road and defeated New Prague 28 to 7. Overall, the team has achieved three wins (against Faribault, Rochester John Marshall, and New Prague) and two losses (against Waconia and Rochester Mayo) so far this year. In the homecoming game, the Raiders take on the Owatonna Huskies. KYMN’s Football Sportscaster, Ned Newberg, shared his thoughts on the Huskies after last week’s game:
Listen to the News:

“The Huskies are struggling this year they did get a pickup win last night, but it’ll be a big game for the Raiders. If they can beat Owatonna, they’ll be sitting basically neck and neck with the Rochester Mayo Spartans.” – Ned Newberg, KYMN Sportscaster on Raider Wrap
The Huskies so far are 2-3 on the season. Newberg said that so far, the Raiders have been playing well together as a team this season:
“So it should be interesting to see how things shake out for the Raiders, but they looked good last night. A lot of weapons on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball. And yeah, they played a solid game of football right up to the last four quarters.” – Ned Newberg, KYMN Sportscaster on Raider Wrap
Homecoming week has included a series of different fun events and celebrations for students each day. The game against Owatonna takes place tonight night at 7pm at Memorial Field. Go Raiders!
