A free Fix-It Clinic is happening in Faribault on Sunday from 11:30am to 2;30pm. The event is sponsored by Rice County Environmental Services and will be held in the Great Hall, Buckham Memorial Library.
Fix-It Clinics offers free, guided assistance from volunteers with the skills to disassemble, troubleshoot, and (hopefully) fix small household appliances, clothing, electronics, mobile devices, and more. Volunteers not only help with repairs, they teach valuable troubleshooting and basic repair skills, build community connections, and reduce the number of repairable items that are thrown in the trash.
Jack Butler of the Rice County GreenCorps said on KYMN in July about the program that it helped people reduce, reuse, and recycle:

Items are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Participants may bring up to three items that need fixing or mending, along with any tools or parts that might be helpful in the repair. No new items accepted after 2 p.m. All items must be clean.
Common items brought to fix-it clinics:
- Clothing or other textiles
- Countertop appliances (toasters, air fryers, coffee makers, blenders)
- Small electric devices (lamps, clocks, radios, hair dryers)
- Toys
- Vacuums
- Jewelry
- Items requiring minor carpentry repairs
