The Northfield Veterans of Foreign Wars is hosting their annual Smorgasbord on Saturday. The dinner is a special one open to all members of the community and helps raise funds for the VFW’s scholarships. On the menu includes Norwegian Meatballs, Ham, Baked Chicken, Mashed Potatoes, Mixed Vegetables, Salads, Rolls, and homemade pie.
Past President of the VFW Auxiliary, Nola Matheson, noted how their donations help both local and national veterans’ causes:
“We donate to veterans’ causes. We’ll do the veterans homes in the cities or the veterans hospitals or if a veterans has a need. They can come to us and we’ll donate to them. And one of our big things we’ve been donating to is the new, Believet, because it’s very expensive to train those dogs to help veterans and they need their support.” – Nola Matheson, Northfield VFW Auxiliary President, KYMN News File
