Northfield Schools District Youth Council Looks To Better Connect Students to Information this year

By Logan Wells, News Director | Logan@kymnradio.net

The voice of Northfield students had a busy school year last year and is looking to build on its successes this year. Last year, the District Youth Council held several events to help students become informed, including on the High School Reimage Project, the School District Budget Reductions, among other initiatives. Additionally, students from the DYC attend each School Board Meeting to report back to the group later.

Co-Chair of the group, Atticus Meyer, reported to the School Board in September that they had several projects in mind for this year:

A few potential events we look forward to this year include events relating to the new administration group we have this year, with an entire new principal, Mr. Dibble, and a whole new position in the Dean of Students. It’s important that the students understand the changes in the admin team and get a chance to meet the new administrators.” – Atticus Meyer, Co-Chair of the District Youth Council at the 9/22/2025 School Board

Additionally, the group is looking to expand its social media presence and has created a website to more easily communicate with students and share events.

The group received several notes of thanks and appreciation from School Board members for helping serve as the voice of students. Here’s School Board Member Amy Goerwitz:

“So thanks to you and your group. I think a lot happened last year. You were very helpful connecting the board to the students and helping explain things. So we really appreciate that. And I look forward to interacting with you and seeing what your group does this year.” – Amy Goerwitz, Northfield School Board Member at the 9/22/2025 School Board Meeting
