Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Holds Veterans Day Service on Sunday; See the Full List of Northfield Veteran’s Day Services Here

Veterans Day is next Tuesday, a Federal Holiday, is a day to honor those who served in the military. Several services are coming up between now and Tuesday. On Sunday, the Northfield Beyond the Yellow Ribbon will hold its Veterans Services at 2pm in the Chapel of the Northfield Retirement Community. Rev. Brent Kein with the group said that they would have memorabilia on display, a speaker, and time for remembrance:

“About the first half hour will just be talking with the residents who attend. We’re going to have memorabilia from the military there, especially from the Legion. And those guys can look at that stuff, think about their time in service. We’ll obviously have conversations with them and hopefully have a good time remembering their time serving our country.” – Rev. Brent Klein of the Northfield Beyond the Yellow Ribbon on KYMN in the Morning

Klein said that the service was the first in a tour of the different retirement and nursing communities in town:

“Yeah, well, there’s plenty of veterans in our care facilities and they can’t make it to what we’ve had either at the middle school or at my church building. And so our idea is to, in a sense, take this thing on the road and we’ll hit the various care facilities if they’ll have us over the course of the next few years. And that way the veterans in those places are able to make it more easily.”  – Rev. Brent Klein of the Northfield Beyond the Yellow Ribbon on KYMN in the Morning

During next week, there will be several Veterans Day Services as well:

Ray Ozmun with Beyond the Yellow Ribbon and American Legion stated that while all of the services were special, the lunch at Spring Creek was particularly enjoyable:

“The honor students came and got us at the front door and took us down to a special room that just the honor students and the veterans were able to sit and have a meal and talk to the kids. And these kids come up with some very good questions.” – Ray Ozmun of the Northfield Beyond the Yellow Ribbon on KYMN in The Morning

The week will end with an appreciation event during their game by the Raider Girls Hockey team on Saturday, November 15th, at 2pm in the Northfield Ice Arena.
