The Northfield School Board meets tonight for a regular meeting and a special public hearing. The public hearing is set to start early at 5:15pm for a review of the Comprehensive Achievement and Civic Readiness (CACR), the report was previously known as World’s Best Workforce. It covers five goals set by the state that all schools in Minnesota have to regularly report on, these include:
- All children are ready for school.
- All racial and economic achievement gaps between students are closed.
- All students are ready for a career and college.
- All students graduate from high school.
- Prepare students to be lifelong learners

The board will hear the presentation, and then there will be time for both the school board and the public to ask questions. Following the public hearing, the School Board will move into a regular meeting. On the agenda is a discussion of the Total Special Education System Plan, which will outline how Northfield identifies, evaluates, and services students with disabilities. The board will consider one item for approval at the meeting, updating the Superintendent’s Mid-year Evaluation tool.
If you are interested in attending the school board meeting, it is held in the District Office Board Room; use Door #2 located on the north side of the District Office on 2nd Street West. The meetings are also streamed live on Youtube; you can find the link to the video in the agenda at Northfieldschools.org. Recordings of the meetings are also posted on the district’s YouTube page.
