Northfield Police Chief Jeff Schroepfer presented the Quarter 3 Police Report last week. The report presents overall good news for Northfield, showing a decrease in most crimes, though with a few notes. Overall, compared to Quarter 3 last year, there were just over 450 fewer calls for service. Here’s the Police Chief:
“When you compare to quarter three of 2024 with a 20% decrease from last year of that we saw a 77% decrease in Combined frauds which is great because I’ve been here many times talking about fraud so that’s going in the right direction. A 30% decrease in combined thefts is also very promising.” – Jeff Schroepfer, Northfield Police Chief at the 11/4/2025 City Council Meeting
Listen to the News:

Schroepfer, in the past, has focused on fraud crimes as a significant issue in Northfield, and he believed that the downward trend was part of a national effort to reduce the crime.
“There was a push on and some of the recommendations from Council took that back as well as far as getting more education material out there so combination of social media that we got things out on and then there was a push from almost on a nationwide level of the increasing fraud of more information needs to come out more awareness needs to come out so I think the biggest part was awareness” – Jeff Schroepfer, Northfield Police Chief at the 11/4/2025 City Council Meeting
The chief noted that Quarter 3 is always a unique one with the Defeat of Jesse James Days celebration. Will talk more about his report on the celebration in a later newscast.
