With winter weather moving in this week, the City of Northfield’s winter parking bans are in place from now until March 15th. Vehicles cannot be parked on any city street between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m regardless of the amount of snow accumulation. Vehicles that are in violation of the ban can be fined $50 and possibly towed. For those who are looking to park on residential streets, they can apply for Winter Weather Parking Permit here: Apply here. This permit allows residents to park on the street (not downtown area) during the Winter Parking Ban as long as a Snow Emergency has NOT been declared.

What is a Snow Emergency?
When the City declares a Snow Emergency, you cannot park on any public street or parking lot until the street is plowed curb to curb. Violators may be ticketed and fined and may be subject to towing.
It is important that vehicles are not parked on streets when snow is being removed. Streets are safer for all community members when our streets are properly cleared of ice and snow. Northfield Police prefer compliance, not enforcement, and we ask for your cooperation in keeping your vehicles off the streets during winter months.
Follow the cities website for additional information about snow emergencies if they are declared or by calling the city’s Snow Emergency Hotline at 507-645-3080
