Tonight is the last regular City Council meeting of the year, there is no work session meeting or second meeting planned for December.
Consent Agenda:
First on the agenda, the council will consider the Consent Agenda. Some of the main items on the Consent Agenda include approving a new trash and waste hauling contract with Dick’s Sanitation Service. The city had received 4 proposals with DSI coming in at the best cost and overall representing a decrease in residential trash costs. As well, there are several other items into the contract that were negotiated:
- Recycling Education Trail at Events
- In-person Recycling trainings
- Supporting community events
- Community Recycling/Carboard Collection – Splitting funds to Northfield youth groups
- Natural gas trucks – reducing carbon emissions
Listen to the News:
Also on the consent agenda includes approving an agreement with Age Friendly and applaning for a grant with the state government to help fund flood mitigation downtown.
Police Drone Policy:
The last item for action will be approving a new policy for the Police Department to operate drones. The meeting is the closing of the period for public comment on the new policy. The police chief will deliver a report, be able to answer questions, and present the public comments that have been provided by email and mail.
Last week we had a full story explaining the new proposal.
Members of the public can provide comments by emailing drones@northfieldmn.gov or by commenting at the meeting.
