“As Bob Gregory Bjorkland, our long-time Theater Director, a Fantastic Human being. He would call it: it’s wild, it’s zany, it’s ThanksGive.” – Executive Director of Arcadia Charter School, Laura Stelter on the KYMN Morning Show
Tonight at Arcadia Charter School will be one of the school’s most beloved events and traditions, ThanksGive. ThanksGive has been an event at Arcadia for over 15 years now and is one of the school’s main fundraising events for the year. The fundraiser engages most of the school’s students, teachers, and staff through a series of performances and an active audience that donates throughout the night. Students are the main organizers and leaders of the event.
Listen to the News:

In previous years, in just a few hours, the school has raised thousands of dollars, and this year they’re aiming to raise $10,000, with all of the funds going back to support Arcadia programs and student learning directly. “Come ready to give, play, and experience ThanksGive! Bring small bills for our pass-the-hat moments, raffle tickets, and skit voting. Checks and PayPal donations (via QR code) are welcome.”
Arcadia is a public charter school in Northfield serving middle and high school students and focuses on project-based learning.
You can learn more about Arcadia in KYMN’s interview with Executive Director Laura Stelter here.
The main event is when the school’s four advisories (comparable to traditional home rooms in school) each make a performance based on a theme. Then the audience “votes” for the best performance by donating money.
Doors open tonight for ThanksGive at 6:30pm, with the show starting at 7pm, at the Grand Events Center, here in Northfield.
