The Dog House in Northfield’s Holiday Decorations

The Dog House is this year’s winner of the Holiday Window Display contest in Downtown. Josh Zimmerman is the President of the Friends of Downtown, the organizers of the contest:

“They did a fantastic job of incorporating products and they have a lot of stuffed dogs in the window. Showing all the different products and it’s great winter scene.” – Josh Zimmerman, President of the Friends of Downtown Northfield, on KYMN In The Morning

The contest has been part of downtown for several years, with individuals able to vote online during Winter Walk. The People’s Choice Award will remain part of the contest, and new this year is an independent panel of judges organized by the Friends of Downtown Northfield.

Listen to the News:

“Yeah, so one of them was draw, like how well are people drawn into it, and then also the quality of the construction and craftsmanship. And then the composition. Those are like kind of the three areas just to make sure a judge would keep in mind like, okay, all of these elements really go towards someone walking by the store and being like, wow, that’s really cool.” – Josh Zimmerman, President of the Friends of Downtown Northfield, on KYMN In The Morning

For winning the main prize, The Dog House received a cash prize of $150. The two runner-ups were The Rare Pair and The Secret Attic, both receiving a $75 prize. The Northfield Chamber of Commerce provided prizes. The Honorable mentions include Loon Liquors for the Best Elf Decoration, Homebody Refill for the best use of store products in their display, Division Street Dance for the Merriest Downtown, and Robin’s Egg for the Best in Progress Display.
