As the year comes to a close, the Red Cross is hosting several blood drives this week and next. The end-of-the-year push for blood donations is important to the organization, which is the largest provider of blood products in the U.S. Charlene Hamblin is a volunteer with the local Red Cross:

- Friday, 12/19 – at Northfield YMCA from 8am – 2pm
- Friday, 12/19 – at Northfield Public Library from 10am – 4pm
- Monday, 12/22 – at The Grand from 9am – 3pm
- Friday, 12/26 – at Cannon Strength from 9am – 3pm
- Monday, 12/29 – at Arcadia Charter School from 10am – 4pm
- Tuesday, 12/30 – at Merchants Bank (south) from 9am – 3pm

The Red Cross needs 13,000 blood donations daily and serves 26-hundred hospitals across the country.
