Northfield School Board will Review Charter Reports, Indigenous Education Update, and Long‑Term Facilities

By Rich Larson, KYMN News

The Northfield School Board will meet tonight with a full agenda that spans financial planning, charter school updates, Indigenous education reporting, and long‑term facilities needs.

Following agenda approval and the public comment period, the board will open with announcements and recognitions before turning to a series of major discussion items.

Representatives from both Prairie Creek Community School and Arcadia Charter School will present their annual reports, accompanied by updates on recent board site visits to each school.

A significant portion of the meeting will focus on Indigenous (American Indian) education. The district will present a parent meeting summary, a service update, and a required vote of concurrence regarding how the district supports Indigenous students.

The board will also revisit its financial forecast with follow‑up discussions on the operating levy renewal timeline and potential budget restorations. That leads into consideration of the proposed 2026–27 Operating Capital budget and the Long‑Term Facilities Maintenance (LTFM) budget. In addition, administrators will present the district’s updated ten‑year LTFM plan and its Indoor Air Quality Management Plan.

The policy committee will bring forward its latest recommendations for board review.

Routine business will follow in the consent agenda, including minutes, gift agreements, financial reports, and personnel items.

Three action items are slated for individual votes: a resolution directing the administration to prepare programming and staffing recommendations for next year; approval of board committee assignments; and consideration of additional policy recommendations.

The meeting will close with informational items, including a recap of the recent work session on later school start times, an updated enrollment report, and a construction update.
