Officials at Shattuck – St. Mary’s School in Faribault confirmed to KYMN that it recently fired Beck Alexander Saine after the first-year teacher at the boarding school was charged with sexual assault of a minor.
According to media reports based on the criminal complaint, Saine is accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old boy in his apartment at the school after connecting with him online.
“On the morning of March 19, Shattuck St. Mary’s School was notified by the Faribault Police Department that a first-year faculty member had been charged with sexual assault of a minor,” the school’s statement said, noting that Saine, “has been terminated and is prohibited from entering the school’s campus.”
Saine, 26, who grew up in Ohio and graduated from Harvard University, taught science classes at the school.
The Shattuck – St. Mary’s statement said that Faribault Police confirmed the alleged incident did not involve a Shattuck student, but the school noted it was “taking all necessary precautions to ensure the continued safety of its community.”
The school also said it was cooperating fully with Faribault Police as the investigation continues.
Saine appeared in Rice County District Court on March 23 where he was charged with fourth-degree sexual assault. He was released on $75,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court again on June 11.
