The Northfield School Board will tackle a wide‑ranging agenda when it meets tonight, with budget planning, operational policy, and long‑term district planning featured prominently.
Financial discussions will anchor much of the meeting. Board members will review proposed 2026‑27 Child Nutrition Fund budgets, along with revised 2025‑26 and proposed 2026‑27 Community Education Fund budgets. The board will also receive a follow‑up on the district’s long‑range financial forecast, including conversation about potential budget restorations. In addition, trustees will review feedback from the recent operating levy public hearing, offering insight into community priorities as the district balances services and resources.
Several non‑budget items are expected to draw attention as well. The board will discuss a Raider Image proposal, which may explore how the district presents and promotes its school identity. Members will also consider Policy 802, addressing the disposition of obsolete equipment and materials. Another significant discussion item is later school start times, a topic that often raises questions related to student well‑being, transportation, and family schedules.
Action items later in the meeting include bids for the NHS Reimagine Project, a contract cancellation related to the sale of district property, and whether to livestream and record special school board meetings during the superintendent search process.
Consent agenda items include routine approvals such as minutes, gift agreements, a grant application, an overnight field trip request, December 2025 financial reports, and personnel items.
The meeting will also include updates on enrollment and the superintendent search, along with a look ahead to several special meetings later this month focused on selecting Northfield’s next superintendent.
