The Northfield Arts Guild is hosting a Kentucky Derby-themed party for its annual gala fundraiser on Thursday, April 30, at Reunion — right down to the fashion forward hats which Executive Director Michael Johnson and Arts Guild Performing Arts Manager Pauline Jennings said will be made available for attendees, along with the type of music for which the Commonwealth of Kentucky is known.
“We’re so excited to have Tractorhead coming to perform for us, bluegrass music, just a chance to be with other folks who love the arts in Northfield,” Arts Guild Executive Director Michael Johnson told Rich Larson on KYMN’s In the Morning program recently.
Organizers are billing the event as a “fantastic evening filled with excellent food, drinks, entertainment, and fun.” The event supports the Guild’s mission of making art accessible for everyone in the Northfield community.
Guild Performing Arts Manager Pauline Jennings, praised the food quality at the event.
“We had our fundraiser there last year and the food was outstanding,” she said. “You think of buffet food – no, no, no, no, no – this is not buffet food. This is sit-down meal food just you happen to have to stand in a line to get it. It’s fabulous food, you get a drink ticket, you get the fabulous music and not only that, there’s more: we will announce our next season, the 67th theater season.”
Members of the “Unsinkable Molly Brown cast – a Guild production opening in May – will also perform at the gala.
Founded in 1959, the Northfield Arts Guild’s mission is to inspire artists of all ages and skill levels with inclusive opportunities, connect audiences to new art and ideas, and grow an increasingly diverse audience to strengthen the community.
Tickets for next week’s event are available for $75 at the Northfield Arts Guild website.
