Northfield’s health care landscape is set for a significant shift as Northfield Hospital + Clinics (NH+C) moves forward with its purchase of the Allina Health Northfield Clinic from Allina Health, marking a collaborative effort aimed at strengthening local access to care.
The two organizations have finalized approval of the agreement, with a full transition expected by September 2026. Located on Jefferson Road, the clinic will continue operating in the same space under NH+C’s independent system, minimizing disruption for patients while expanding locally governed services.
Patients currently receiving care at the clinic will be contacted directly by their clinicians with details about the transition. Appointment scheduling with clinicians making the move will begin in August, with visits available starting in late September.
As part of the agreement, approximately 30 clinicians will join NH+C, along with clinic staff who will remain in their roles. The transition includes providers in Family Medicine, Pediatrics, Mental Health, and Sports Medicine—key service areas that support comprehensive, community-based care. KYMN has the full list of clinicians who are transferring to NH+C in the written version of this story on our website at kymnradio.net. According to a hospital spokesperson, this is the full list for Family Medicine, Mental Health, Pediatric Medicine and Sports Medicine. Specialty care is still in discussion as plans take shape.
NH+C President and CEO Zander Abbott said in a statement issued by his organization that the acquisition represents an opportunity to unify primary care services within Northfield while keeping care local. He emphasized that the move reinforces NH+C’s long-term commitment to delivering high-quality care across all stages of life.
Leaders at Allina Health echoed the collaborative intent behind the agreement. Bill Evans, Chief Medical Group Operations Officer, noted that partnerships like this are increasingly essential in modern health care, allowing organizations to better allocate resources while ensuring patients maintain access to both local primary care and specialized services.
The new NH+C Jefferson Road Clinic is expected to serve as a cornerstone of this coordinated, patient-centered approach.
