The Northfield City Council will hold a special meeting tonight designed to give residents an opportunity to speak directly to council members about the city’s proposed 2027 budget.
The meeting follows a public budget presentation that was held last night and will shift the focus from presenting information to hearing from the community. City officials are strongly encouraging residents to attend and offer feedback on spending priorities and the proposed budget.
Residents who pre-register to speak will be given up to two minutes to address the council. Once everyone on the sign-up list has spoken, others in attendance will also have an opportunity to comment. The session is intended primarily for council members to receive information and opinions from the public rather than engage in a question-and-answer discussion.
Residents with specific questions may submit them separately for follow-up by city staff.
The listening session is part of the city’s ongoing process of developing the 2027 budget. The city is also collecting public input through an online budget survey and has additional budget information available on its website.
Tonight’s meeting, which will be held in the Council Chambers at City Hall, begins at 6pm.
