The Northfield City Council will meet tonight at 6 p.m., with a final vote on rules for data processing facilities among the items on the agenda.
The council is set to consider the second reading of Ordinance 1098, which amends the city’s Land Development Code with use-specific standards for data processing facilities. A companion item would approve summary publication of the ordinance, which reduces the required setback between such facilities and parks, trails and other recreational features from 3,950 feet to 200 feet. Both items are on the consent agenda, so they can be approved with a single motion unless a council member asks to move them to the regular agenda for discussion. The council discussed the ordinance at a Sept. 15 work session and at its Oct. 6 meeting.
The meeting will begin with the Northfield Police Department’s quarterly report for the third quarter of 2026.
Other consent items include approval of $2,252,570.57 in disbursements and an updated joint powers agreement with the state that allows police to use the Criminal Justice Data Communications Network. The council will also consider accepting a feasibility report for the city’s 2027 reclamation project and authorizing preparation of plans and specifications.
The council will hold a public hearing on an amended and restated enabling resolution for the city’s Economic Development Authority.
On the regular agenda, council members will consider a resolution approving changes to city fees and charges, including a draft fee schedule for 2027. The meeting will close with an update from the city administrator.
Residents can address the council during open public comment, which ends by 6:20 p.m. Speakers who pre-register get up to two minutes. Residents may also speak during the public hearing and on regular agenda items.
Council meetings are scheduled to end at 9 p.m. unless a majority of the council votes to extend.
