Today in the ArtZany Radio studio Paula Granquist welcomes director Rachel Haider and actors Jonathan Larson and Ben Pelagano to discuss the LAB Theater production K2 at the Northfield Arts Guild Theater. K2 is the world’s second-highest mountain, yet it’s far more dangerous, steep, and technically demanding to climb than Mount Everest. In September of 1977, two American climbers are scaling K2 located in the Asian Karakoram range along the border of China and Pakistan. At an altitude of 27,000 feet, their friendship is fighting against the limits of human endurance.

They call it “the savage mountain.” K2 is one of the most treacherous places on earth, claiming the lives of countless climbers who dare to challenge its icebound summit. Taylor, a hard-edged attorney, and Harold, a brilliant nuclear physicist, are about to discover just how high the price of ambition can be. Surviving K2 will demand more than skill and endurance. High above the world, where every second counts, they encounter the ultimate tests of courage- friendship and trust.
Rated R. K2 contains profuse profanity, as well as period and circumstance-specific conversation.
K2 is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Dramatists Play Service. www.concordtheatricals.com
