All-Wheel Drive/June 3

Playlist:

Wrapped up the week with an in-studio appearance by Daniel Groll of The Counterfactuals, who are releasing the follow-up to their critically-acclaimed 2014 album, “Minimally Decent People,” on June 10. With a typical Counterfactuals’ twist, the new album is simply titled “The Counterfactuals” — but all irony aside, the self-titled sophomore release is a must-listen from start to finish (yes, lucky me, I already got my hands on an advance copy and it’s fantastic!).

The band will be celebrating the release of “The Counterfactuals” on the album’s official release date — Friday, June 10 — at the Upstairs Rueb here in downtown Northfield (503 Division Street). The gig starts at 8 pm with an opening set by special guests The Ericksons. 21+/$5 cover.

You can also catch The Counterfactuals (touring in support of “The Counterfactuals”!) June 25 at Icehouse MPLS, along with Joey Ryan & The Inks. A mini-tour follows, with stops in Madison, Duluth and Winona.

Always fun to chat with Dan and to feature this great band. On today’s show, he performed two acoustic tunes (including a brand spankin’ new song) and we also played a gorgeous cut from “The Counterfactuals”:
