Today in the ArtZany! Radio studio Paula Granquist welcomes the winners of the 2017 Northfield Sidewalk Poetry Competition.

ArtZany! – Radio for the Imagination 04/21/2017

The Arts and Culture Commission (ACC) of Northfield, in partnership with the Friends and Foundation of the Library, is pleased to announce the winners of the City’s seventh annual Sidewalk Poetry Competition and congratulate them for their efforts.  Chosen from among 156 poems submitted for judging, ten poems have been selected for imprinting in city sidewalks.

The Arts and Culture Commission applauds and thanks the many local poets who submitted their poetry to the competition. While the response to the competition has been enthusiastic from the start, this year a new participation record was achieved. We are pleased to announce the following winners, in alphabetical order, of Northfield’s 2017 Sidewalk Poetry Contest:

Lucy Archibald                                         Aimee Hagerty Johnson

Caitlin Clarey                                            Susan Jaret McKinstry

Andrew & Gina Franklin                           Anna Moltchanova

Jon P. Frasz                                               Leslie Schultz

D.E. Green                                                 Mar Valdecantos

The winning poems will be on display at the Northfield Public Library, City Hall, posted on the Friends and Foundation of the Library and City websites, and shared with local media. Beginning in May and continuing through the summer, poems will be installed in City sidewalks, as weather permits. Following the installation of this year’s winning poems, a Sidewalk Poetry celebration will take place on Thursday, August 17, 2017, at 7 pm on Bridge Square in downtown Northfield.
