Wis. man sentenced in case of missing Nfld teen

36 year old Shaun Michael Helmueller pled “no contest” to 2 counts of sex with a 16 year old.  He’s the River Falls, Wisconsin man who was found with a Northfield teenager who was reported missing December 30th.  Northfield police were able to track her down through her cellphone at Helmueller’s apartment.  She was taken to the hospital and he was arrested.  Helmueller told police she said she was 18.  The girl is also reported to have “special needs”.   Helmueller was sentenced in Pierce County court this week of 30 days of home monitoring and 2 years probation.  Conditions include no contact with the teenager, her family or place of employment. His internet is limited to using it for the purpose of employment.  Helmueller also provided a DNA sample.

Mock Crash tells a powerful story, hear from Chad Lexvold

Today multiple emergency agencies held a mock crash at the Northfield High School.  It takes months of planning by numerous organizations aside from all the emergency responders.  The mayors task force, of course the school district, MADD, TZD, and students.  Northfield EMS Brian Edwards said this year was different in that the student actors created a prologue to show to the rest of the student body so that they “knew” what was going on before the crash.  Edwards said it was their idea.  Kevin Dahle has taught drivers ed for 34 years.  He was one of the actors today and said that it hit home with him as his daughter is in the car with him and is injured.  She’s a senior and will be going to college next year.  Chief Nelson reiterated that the most dangerous time for those from 16 into their 20’s is EVERY time they get into a vehicle.  Chad Lexvold of Kenyon told his powerful story wherein his one bad decision caused the death of his best friend.  I’ve posted the full audio is below as is the news cast.
