Once again getting this posted ridiculously late (my apologies) but, boy — what a treat to meet and feature El Vikingo (aka Eli Elstad), a fantastically talented singer-songwriter from Minneapolis on my show last Wednesday, Sept. 6 (hey, I’m *only* a week late!).
Eli describes his creative personae as “A Spanish-speaking Norwegian with a philosophy degree, born of Minneapolis, El Vikingo marinates in melancholy moods and folk pop grooves.” I call it damn good and reminiscent of my favorite 70s AM pop radio (and I mean that in the very best of ways). We also talked about our shared love for Steely Dan and other musical inspirations. (And I got to practice my previously mispronounced pronunciation of El Vikingo!)
El Vikingo and I chatted a bit — and he performed 3 original tunes accompanied by acoustic guitar. Really nice! (Plus a heckuva lotta fun to talk to). And, you have to check out his very cool website at www.elvikingoproject.com.
Eli returns to Northfield for an appearance at the Tavern Lounge on Wednesday, Nov. 22 (Thanksgiving eve!) — BE THERE. And until then, find him online and check out our segment here. here.
