Hedwig and the Angry Inch

Hedwig and the Angry Inch: Feb 15-24

text by John Cameron Mitchell
music and lyrics by Stephen Trask

After a botched sex change operation, young Hansel Schmidt takes his mother’s name, marries an American GI, and moves to America to escape his bleak existence in the shadow of the Berlin Wall. The following year, living as Hedwig Robinson, she watches her marriage and the Wall collapse. Living in poverty, she revisits her love for American pop, punk, and glam music, and meets a new man who she turns into a superstar. But, when that relationship sours, Hedwig takes to the stage with her band, The Angry Inch, to weigh her future, realign her past, and scream her story in ways caustic, exotic, and erotic.

Hedwig’s life is not your ordinary tale. It’s a half-cocked, full-schlock, Soviet-bloc, hard-knock, sex-op, punk-rock musical.  This show is for mature audiences.
