ArtZany: Arts Guild – Riverfront Fine Arts Festival and the Annual Members Exhibition

Today in the ArtZany! Radio studio Paula Granquist invites you to join the Northfield Arts Guild for two fabulous events: the Riverfront Fine Arts Festival (RFAF) and the Annual Members Exhibition. For the first segment, Heather Lawrenz, Visual Arts Manager at the Arts Guild and sculptor and carver know for his chainsaw creations Curtis Ingvolstad will talk about the RFAF. Next, visual artists Bob Nivall and Karen Oiseth will share their story about particitpating in the Annual Members Exhibition.

Riverfront Fine Arts Festival
Saturday, September 8 and Sunday September 9
10:00 am to 5:00 pm both days – Rain or Shine
Our Riverfront Fine Arts Festival began in the 1970’s! Currently, it takes place on the second weekend of September and runs in conjunction with the Defeat of Jesse James Days. Set along the idyllic Cannon River walkway, over 65 fine artists and craftspersons sell their work – ceramics, jewelry, paintings, fiber, wood and steel – there is something for everyone!

CHAIN SAW SCULPTURE DEMONSTRATIONS:
At Noon and 2 pm on both Saturday and Sunday, September 8 and 9 come see art in process when Curtis Ingvoldstad, of Big Woods Sculpture, demonstrates his chain saw sculpting! Look for his demonstration area on the Cannon River, near the Second Street Bridge.

WIN FREE ART!
All weekend visitors ages 18+, may enter their name in our drawing for a chance to win one of four $50 gift certificates for art. Drawings will be held on Sunday, September 9 at 12:30, 1:30, 2:30, and 3:30 p.m.  Each gift certificate is good towards any art made by festival artists, to be used on Sunday, September 9. Must be present to win!

 

Annual Members Exhibition
September 1 – 22, 2018
Please join the participating artists and learn more about their work at the Artist Reception on Friday, September 14 from 7-9 pm, refreshments will be served.
The exhibition features over 70 member artists

Eclipse Viewing Party at Northfield Public Library

Monday, April 8, 2024 @ 1:00 pm – 2:15 pm – Join us for the total solar eclipse! We will make cardboard eclipse viewers, pass out eclipse glasses, and all join together to see 70% of the total eclipse at 2:02 p.m. Bring a cereal box (or similar box) to make your own viewer–we will have a limited supply available.
