05 December 2018 – Roadmap to the future

A brief personal note. I (Bruce) had the honor of serving under President George H W Bush. The eulogies and stories we heard today have reminded me of how powerful it is to serve under a leader who is truly humble, yet very aware of the weight they carry with our help. Today was his memorial service. He was from a time when bipartisanship was still possible in ways that we have devolved away from. Here’ hoping we find our way back.

– Thank you, Mr. President

Our show today is about some very personal choices we all make, often one of the two or three most expensive choices we make. Our automobiles.

So, what were some highlights and references?

  1. H.R.7173 – Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act of 2018.
To create a Carbon Dividend Trust Fund for the American people in order to encourage market-driven innovation of clean energy technologies and market efficiencies which will reduce harmful pollution and leave a healthier, more stable, and more prosperous nation for future generations.

  2. The Fourth National Climate Assessment (interestingly, the bill mandating this, the Global Change Research Act of 1990, was passed and signed by President G H W Bush).
The Fourth National Climate Assessment is the culmination of years of research and analysis by hundreds of top climate scientists in the country. The massive report details the many ways in which global climate change is already affecting American communities, from hurricanes to wildfires to floods to drought.
