All-Wheel Drive New Year’s Eve Edition 2018

Wrapped up another great year here on 95.1 The One — such a genuine honor to be able to share my favorite music with y’all each and every weekday from 3 to 7 pm, all year long!

As it’s the season for year-end best-of lists, on this final show of 2018 I shared a wee sprinkling of some of my favorite music & musical moments in the last 365 days.

“Come Cryin’ to Me” by The Jayhawks (from Back Roads and Abandoned Motels)

“Bonita” by The Bad Man (from Laughing With Bad Teeth)

“Freebird II” by Parquet Courts (from Wide Awake!)

“The Joke” by Brandi Carlile (from By The Way, I Forgive You)

“Bad Bad News” by Leon Bridges (from Good Thing)

“This Land Is Your Land” by The Roe Family Singers (from Songs of the Mountains, Songs of the Plains)

“Everybody’s Coming to My House” by David Byrne (from American Utopia) — his May 2018 appearance with his top-notch band at the Orpheum Theater in Minneapolis was my absolute favorite live performance in the last year. Wow!

“Make Me Feel” by Janelle Monae (from Dirty Computer) — the live performance in the last year I most regret missing!

“MissingU” by Robyn (from Honey) — 2019’s most highly anticipated live performance — March 5 at the Palace Theater!

“Need A Little Time” by Courtney Barnett (from Tell Me How You Really Feel)

“The Trees” by Paul Kelly (from Nature)

“Low” by Lenny Kravitz (from Raise Vibration) — most unexpected album comeback!

“Under the Glass Tide” by Brianna Kocka (from Dreamlife)

“Feels Like Summer” by Childish Gambino (from Summer Pack) — far & away the most fun video released in 2018.

“Right As Rain” by Alison Moyet (from 2013’s The Minutes) — my second favorite concert experience — such a rare treat (her first Twin Cities appearances in over 30 years!) to catch her solo at the Fine Line Music Cafe. OOOPS! That was in 2017! Oh, well. Still an awesome show.

“Calm” by Lakewood Cemetery (from Laws of Motion)

“Runner” by Greycoats (from Charisma!) — fantastic performance in September at the Southern Theater — part performance, part film, part music — totally fantastic and original.

“Nobody” by Mitzki (from Be The Cowboy) — the song I most loved to hate!

And, played in its entirety (all 8 tracks), my very favorite album release in 2018:

People You May Know by Matt Latterell & The P Cool Draculas

Cheers to another great year of amazing music — and here’s to 2019!
