Nfld Middle School was on lockdown this morning for a very short time

The Northfield Middle School was on lockdown this morning for a time.  Superintendent Dr. Matt Hillmann told KYMN that the lockdown was only a few minutes while the child was escorted out of the building. Hillmann added that the lockdown is a tool to allow the child some dignity as they needed additional adult support.  There was never any danger to the student or other students.

An email sent to parents from Principal Greg Gelineau said that they locked down due to a student “behavior disruption” that they needed to contain and prevent access to academic areas.   The situation did not involve a weapon of any kind and the students and staff did a terrific job following the district process. Additionally, Gelineau said they addressed the issue with the Northfield Police Department and classes resumed their normal activities.
