So nice to finally meet the man behind the music that I’ve been digging for quite some time! Today I featured singer/songwriter Nick Costa on All-Wheel Drive—perhaps best known for his work with the seminal Minnesota rock band, The 4onthefloor, as well as his work with the much-beloved indie band, The Person & The People. But he’s also been working on a beautifully-produced and introspective solo album he’s calling “Devastator,” due to hit streets late May.
While others might describe his music as smart, delicate, folk songs with a twinge of alt-country, he -1would simply consider his own songs as “sad.” For me, I think he writes the kind of music that makes you want to laugh and cry at the same time. So lovely (and that voice!). He’s got an amazing vocal range and smart pop sensibility. What a talent!
We talked about the inspiration behind his music-making (and particularly the new solo album) and his obsession with Blink-182’s “Enema of the State” (!).
Nick performed:
Throwin’ Shade
Poison Pen
New Normal
Find more about Nick (as well as upcoming gigs around the state) on his website — and get your hands on “Devastator”!
