Man Drowns In Cannon Lake

The Rice County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a drowing death in Cannon Lake west of Faribault.  Rice County Sheriff Troy Dunn released this statement:Rice County Sheriff’s Office

NEWS RELEASE
FOR IMMEIDATE RELEASE: September 17, 2020

Date/Time of Incident: September 17, 2020. Time of call 10:49 am
Incident Description: Death Investigation

Location of Incident: 3000 block of Cannon Lake Trail, Wells Township

Victim/Suspect Information: Victim: Adult male – pending notification of all
family

Description of Incident: On the above date/time, Rice County Deputies were
dispatched to a home in the 3000 block of Cannon Lake Trail to assist a person who
was looking for their father at his residence. A pair of boots were noticed floating in
Cannon Lake away from the shore. The Rice County Dive Team was paged to
respond and assist.
Deputies commandeered a nearby boat and soon located an adult male in the lake.
He was removed from the water and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The
MN DNR also assisted at the scene.
Preliminary investigation found no trauma and no foul play is suspected at this
time. The case remains under investigation by the Rice County Sheriff’s Office and
the Rice County Coroner’s Office. Victim information is currently withheld for
family notification.
