The Northfield Public Schools has hosted over 80 information events about the High School Renovation referendum, and with 26 days until election day, there are still several opportunities to learn more. On Tuesday from 4pm – 6pm they will host a high school tour. The high school tours are an incredibly informative opportunity, starting with a short presentation, followed by a visit to several different spaces in the school, including general classrooms, science labs, culinary class space, the woodworking, metalworking, and auto mechanic shop, music space, and gym to see the issues with the current space and what improvements the renovation would offer. Along the way, safety and HVAC issues will also be discussed. Superintendent of Schools Dr. Matt Hillmann leads the tour and voters can talk with him and ask any questions. For the tours, enter through Door No. 10. Signs will direct you to the media center where the tour will start. Additional tours will be on October 24th from 6pm-8pm, and November 2nd from 10am-12pm.
On October 21st the school district will be offering a unique tour of Carleton College’s geothermal system to learn how it has positively affected the college and how a new system for the high school could be beneficial. The tour starts at 4pm in Carleton’s Anderson Hall.
And on October 22th, from 7pm to 8:15pm the school district will be hosting a Q&A session about the project in the high school auditorium. You can learn more about the project at northfieldschools.org or by going to the KYMN Election Guide.
