Today, we are focusing on the district services package, which includes the district administration and district-wide services. Of the $6 million in reductions, the district services package has the largest reductions at $1.8 million.
The proposal includes restructuring the Instructional Services Department and the Human Resources Department. In both offices, the director is retiring at the end of the year, and the plan calls for redistributing the director’s responsibilities to help save costs. Also included is a reduction in the Superintendent’s salary.
One of the most significant items is implementing a transportation fee for students riding the school bus who live less than two miles from school. The fees will range between $150 to $300 and would allow for a waiver option for those who qualify for free or reduced lunch.

Tomorrow we will talk about the final package of proposals, Special Services, and the format of the public input meeting.
