Today we are reviewing the City of Dundas’s tax levy. Dundas’s total levy increased by 5.18%. However, the city’s tax rate is staying the same. The city council had instructed staff to keep the tax rate the same. Here’s City Administrator Jenelle Teppen explaining what that would mean:
“If there has been no increase in the assessed values of a property Dundas residents would likely see a slight reduction in their annual property tax payment for 2025.” – Dundas City Administrator Jenelle Teppen on the KYMN Morning Show
However, property values in Dundas increased in the last year, leading to an increase in the general fund overall.

The increase in costs includes several items like new sidewalks and trails, improvements to Tower Park, and fire department equipment. Two new seasonal staff member positions in the Streets Department and the Parks Department are also fueling the increase. View the memo from city staff here explaining the increases.
The Dundas City Council adopted the tax levy unanimously in December.
Tomorrow we will be wrapping up the series discussing the Rice County tax increase.
