Another local Fourth of July tradition is the 2nd game of the season between the Dundas Dukes and the Northfield Knights. The teams face off in two games a year, once in Northfield and once in Dundas, first on Memorial Day and then later on Independence Day. The teams faced off in Northfield for Memorial Day, where the Dukes won 14 to 3, including earning 7 runs in one inning.

The Knights are currently 2 and 7 on the season so far, most recently having lost to the Rochester Royals 9 to 8. The Dukes are 11-8 on the season so far; this does not include their game against the Minneapolis North Stars last night. In a busy week, this past Sunday, the Dukes beat the Mudhens in Miesville 9 to 7 and lost Monday evening to the Highland Park Behaviors 6 to 0.
Today’s opening pitch is at 2pm at Bill Nelson Field at Memorial Park in Dundas. Duke’s games are free, though donations are appreciated when they pass the hat. Concessions are available as well.
We strive to remain unbiased here in the KYMN Newsroom, but on this issue, we firmly say… Go Dukes!
