Northfield Public Schools Board of Education member Ben Miller announced Tuesday that he will seek reelection to the board in the Nov. 3, 2026, general election, pledging to continue work on academic achievement, financial stability and the ongoing transformation of Northfield High School.
Miller, who has served on the school board since January 2023, said he hopes to build on initiatives undertaken during his first term while helping guide the district through upcoming challenges.
“Serving Northfield’s students and families and the broader community on the school board has been one of the most meaningful responsibilities over the past four years,” Miller said in a statement. He added that the board has listened to community feedback, made difficult budget decisions and worked to improve systems that support student learning.
Miller cited several major accomplishments during his tenure, including helping oversee the successful Reimagine Northfield High School referendum, addressing budget pressures linked to declining enrollment and participating in the search that led to the hiring of Superintendent Dr. Tim Anderson.
He also highlighted his support for fiscal oversight of district spending and facilities projects.
If reelected, Miller said his priorities would include improving academic outcomes for all students, maintaining the district’s financial health amid enrollment and state funding challenges, supporting the leadership transition under Anderson, and strengthening efforts to recruit and retain teachers and staff.
Outside of the school board, Miller serves as chief operating officer of an international food safety consulting firm. He holds a doctorate in Environmental Health and a Master of Public Health degree in Epidemiology. His professional work focuses on regulatory compliance, crisis management and public health protection.
Miller lives in Northfield with his family and has children who have attended Northfield Public Schools, including a Northfield High School graduate and a current student.
The general election is scheduled for Nov. 3, 2026. Three of the seven seats on the Northfield Board of Education will be on the ballot.
